Being a mother of four I know the bond between a mother and a child is unlike any other. But if you’re anything like me, you’re always the one behind the camera in family photographs and hardly ever in them. And because life is busy, and we want some documentation, we take candid pictures with our cell phones. I realize I rarely got around to having a professional take a family portrait. Now the kids are grown up, they've moved away, and are starting their own family. I have missed all those years of documentation.
Below is a photo that I took (I'm embarrassed to say) of my family a long time ago! Oh my... I have come a long way. But as you can see, I'm not in the image. There are so many things wrong with this image but it is one of the few images I have. Candid shots are ok, but wouldn't you treasure an image where you could see everyone clearly?
And I'm in this photo because it was my birthday, but my husband is cut off as well as my cake. Does it look familiar? Are your family photos like my old ones?
I’ve recently been reminded that life is truly precious and filled with moments we sometimes take for granted. Life is so hectic when our families are young and before you know it a stage of childhood is over. Now that my family is off on their own, I realized I missed having a photograph of me with each one of the children alone when they were young. My sadness really increased when I realized I don’t have a photograph of just my mom and me or my grandmother and me, and they are no longer with me.
If this is you, then it is time for you to book a Mommy and Me photo session!
I want to make this photo session work for you, so whether you want a few photographs with your children, or you simply want some memorable pictures of you and your own mother or grandmother; I am here to guide you. This is your chance to get creative and really make a photo session about you and your kids/mom/grandmother and the special bond that you share.
The sessions don’t need to take long. They don’t need to be complicated. Contact me today and I’ll share more of my thoughts on how to make the end result special.
If you want you can bring along anything that will make you all feel comfortable and will help you spend some time together as I do my job. For example, you might want to bring a blanket and some of your daughter’s favorite books so that we can capture your snuggles and story time. This is all about creating a space where you can enjoy being together so that we can perfectly capture these moments for you. In these pictures above, we choose a location that offered a lot of variety. These are only two of many.
I love that Mommy and Me sessions are intimate and sweet with very little fuss. These sessions don’t take very long. They provide a space where those natural interactions and emotions can play out, resulting in a mini time capsule of your current relationship. You might even want to make this an annual tradition so that you can beautifully document the relationship with your children.
