Catching a moment or creating a moment? What is lifestyle photography? According to Wikipedia lifestyle photography is a style of portrait photography which aims to capture and document real-life events, situations, or milestones and the art of the everyday. My lifestyle sessions are when I incorporate things that my client would typically do. This can be anything from hanging out at home, or playing at the park, playing a game or a sport, going to a favorite restaurant, or having a party with friends. It is incorporating "real-life events" into a photo session. My job as the photographer is to be a fly on the wall. (If possible.) Some photographs are posed, but mostly I try to capture what is going on.
The home is a typical location for a lifestyle session, but as stated above, it really entails being somewhere or doing something that involves your client's normal activity. I believe it is important to document the little things in life. Last weekend, I photographed a birthday party which happened over Easter. Of course Easter Egg hunts (yes hunts - plural) were involved. Here are just a few of the images.
